Happy, Healthy You – The Power of Wheatgrass Juice
I learned about the power of wheatgrass juice a few years ago, when I was on my healthy weight loss journey. Around the same time I had a friend tell me she drank a lot of it for a couple years as she successfully battled breast cancer. She went to a place called the Hippocrates Health Institute in Florida to get her health back. I was so intrigued that I wanted to learn more about this powerful elixir. I read the book written by the Institute Director called Living Foods for Optimum Health. I found out that ‘wheatgrass is largely chlorophyll, and one of nature’s richest sources of vitamins A and C. It contains all the known minerals your body needs such as calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium, sodium, sulfur, cobalt and zinc, as well as all essential amino acids, which makes it a complete protein. It’s also rich in the B vitamins, especially B-17, which is said to selectively destroy cancer cells without affecting normal cells. Wheatgrass juice also aids digestion and can be used to help relieve many internal pains.’ Other studies I have found says the possible healing benefits of wheatgrass include: boosting your metabolism which promotes weight loss, lowers cholesterol and blood pressure, regulates blood sugar, eliminates toxins and boosts your immune system and energy.
At one time I entertained the idea of purchasing a special wheatgrass juicer and growing my own wheatgrass, but had never followed through. I am currently on a juice reboot and wanted to kick my health up a notch. I was curious if I would notice any benefits so I’ve been purchasing fresh wheatgrass juice shots from a local juice shop. I have tried it five days straight so far, drinking anywhere from 2 to 4 ounces a day. I remember reading somewhere to swish the juice in your mouth for awhile before swallowing it. Your blood will get the immediate hit of vitamins and minerals sublingually. I am happy to say I immediately noticed impressive benefits. First off, I noticed an overall vitality in how I felt with noticeably increased energy. In fact, the one day I came in for 2 separate 2 ounce shots, I couldn’t go to sleep that night until almost midnight because I had so much energy. Secondly, I noticed how happy my colon and digestion were. Third, the number on the scale has gone down quicker than days previously. And fourth, if I am not mistaking, my gums and teeth are healthier from swishing it in my mouth. I was having a problem with my gums bleeding and now they don’t. As a side note of caution, I remember reading that some people will have to start introducing smaller quantities at first, possibly an ounce at a time or less. One of my friends told me she was very nauseous from her first wheatgrass shot as she drank too much.
In closing, with all of these amazing benefits from just five days, combined with all I’ve read on the topic, it’s made a believer out of me. I hope to continue to receive many benefits from the power of wheatgrass juice, as I aim to incorporate it into my health building routine. I hope you will too!
