Happy, Healthy You – Stay Committed

Happy, Healthy You – Stay Committed

How would you say you are coping with 2022 so far? I had a friend who says she does best emotionally and mentally when she “keeps busy and focused” on her goals. Or I like to think of it as staying committed to yourself. I thought her advice, although simple, was insightful because it is all too easy to numb out or get sidetracked from our goal oriented routines. You might be tempted to do the opposite of staying focused or productive, by escaping reality. I’m sure all of us are guilty of it at times by using coping mechanisms like watching Netflix or eating comfort foods. Not dealing with our emotions can show up in other areas like not being able to concentrate or sleep well. Can you relate? Remember, when we stay focused on our healthy eating plans, our bodies will thank us for it. You will likely notice more energy, better sleep and an overall good mood. Have you been able to develop personal strategies that help keep you committed or focused?

During challenging times, it is possible to replace our fears with a feeling of joy, calm and positivity. For some, they are firm believers in practicing gratitude every day. I like to think of it as practicing because, especially in times like these, gratitude needs to be a conscious choice. I think all of us can say we have a lot more to be grateful for than we realized over the past couple of years. I think a good motivator for getting back on track with our health and fitness routine is to look to the future. Really picture it. We all have a choice to make. We could either continue down the path we’re heading and feel even worse in a few months. (Esp. when we weigh in or try on real clothes in our closets.) Or, we can take back control of our life by staying committed to our self care.

In what seems to be uncontrollable times, I hope you are able to take control of your life. If you need help with motivation or curbing your appetite and cravings, reach out to us. We will help you get rid of those extra quarantine pounds.
