Happy, Healthy You – Eat for Health
It really motivated me as I read what someone did differently to achieve their goal weight. In a nutshell, they shifted their focus to one word: HEALTH. It can be empowering when we switch our focus. Everything falls into place, including the number on the scale. Can you relate to an almost obsession with the number on the scale? It’s amazing how it can make us feel like a prisoner. Maybe we had an amazing week, eating healthy and crushing our fitness routine. Then our day is quickly ruined when we weigh in. Sound familiar? We could become so discouraged, that we could allow ourselves to throw all the hard work out the door just because we weren’t happy with the results. It can seem like we are trapped in a vicious, self defeating cycle. We might struggle to mentally get our heads back in the game. Experts usually agree that reaching your weight loss goal has a lot to do with keeping a positive mindset. Boy, is that the truth.
There is a saying that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. If what we are doing isn’t working, maybe we can have a whole different approach. It might help to educate yourself on the power of good, clean nutrition for a healthy, disease free body. There are lots of insightful documentaries on the subject. Aim to pay more attention to quality and clean food. Cherish your body with your food, rather than eating food in a self destructive way. Food can become an act of self love. Take care of your body on the inside as well as the outside. Think of the many benefits when you set aside time preparing food for you and your family. Your time and effort is so worth it. Switch your mindset to making your health your first priority, not the number on the scale. There is no need to restrict yourself either. Eat intuitively. You can find healthy AND satisfying treat recipes.
Real life and challenging moments hit us all. When stressed out and emotions rise, you may be tempted to find comfort in your old way of eating unhealthy foods. It IS possible for you to learn new coping skills for your emotions. For some of us, it takes work each day, but it is worth it. Learn the difference in your body between emotional and physical hunger. It is realistic and smart to prepare for the next emotional hurdle that will surely come. Have an arsenal of healthy, comfort food recipes that will do the trick. Some of us need heartier food at times, as a smoothie or salad won’t satisfy us.
At the end of the day, through life’s ups and downs, be gentle and give yourself compassion. We hope when you focus on eating for health, you will be a happier, healthier you.
