Happy, Healthy Kitchen – Eat Whole Foods
Eating unprocessed whole foods can help you to be healthy and reach your weight loss goals. Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed with the idea of switching from processed foods to unprocessed whole foods. Take baby steps and strive to make better choices each day. Be patient as you slowly learn and educate yourself on how to make tastier, healthier meals. There is more time and energy involved in preparation, but once you get into the habit you will find it’s well worth it to make the healthy switch. Personally, I don’t think there is a more valuable way to spend my time taking care of myself. A huge part of eating clean and key to my weight loss success has been to keep healthy food in the house at all times. I make it a priority to shop every week for whole food, fresh produce, freezer and pantry staples so I will always have them on hand. It enables me to make healthy choices and control what I put into my body. For instance, I am prepared to start my day with a healthy green smoothie so I have energy and vitality all day, not to mention lots of nutrition and fiber giving me healthy blood sugar levels.
Most importantly, set aside time to make meal prep for the week, making it a priority. Take one day out of the week to prepare and cook lots of healthy sides and meals. Transform your kitchen into a warm, happy place where you show love for your health and your family as well. If you are out of prepped meals, go to your pre-stocked pantry, refrigerator or freezer to make a quick dinner in 10-15 minutes. Keep a list of your favorite, quick recipe ingredients on hand. That way when you are hungry, rushed and tired you always have something healthy and nutritious to grab. There is an old saying that if you fail to plan, then you plan to fail. I wholeheartedly agree with this as I have seen it time and again in my own life.
Something worth mentioning is you will feel the difference in your body, mind and energy levels when you eat clean whole foods. You can test it out by reverting to your old eating patterns of more processed foods which are higher in fat, oil, salt and sugar. I think you will notice huge differences in your overall well being. For me, my energy and vitality are not as high, my emotional health is not as calm and I can tell how easy any self destructive behaviors with food return. Bottom line… I think it’s 100% worth the effort to prepare and eat unprocessed whole foods in your happy, healthy kitchen.
