Benefits of Rebounding

For the past four years now, one of my favorite full body workouts has been dancing and jumping on my rebounder (or mini trampoline). First of all, it is always super fun because I love to dance. I have mentioned previously that I have been able to consistently stick with working out because I do workouts that I love. I blast my hip hop or latin music on my bluetooth headphones and break out my dance moves pretending I’m on stage. Sometimes I will box on it or even strap on some five pound wrist weights so I can get a better upper body workout. I’m having so much fun that the time passes quickly and before I’m done, I am smiling and happy. I remember after about the first three months of rebounding, my personal trainer friend commented on the differences in my body and my increased workout strength and endurance. I had noticed it took me to the next level too.


I love that it’s an affordable piece of equipment and doesn’t take up too much space in my apartment. My first mini trampoline was a cheap forty dollar one from Walmart. It was squeaky but still did the trick. I was hooked! After that one wore out, I replaced it with a nicer one for about one hundred dollars that I found on Amazon, which is the one I still use today. Who knows, maybe one day I will upgrade to a fancy, expensive one?

Most important of all I feel is the long list of overall health benefits you receive from rebounding. There are far too many to talk about here, but I will name some I have personally experienced. I love how she describes the benefits to the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system, commonly summarized as the “garbage disposal of the body,” relies completely on our conscious movement. Unlike the cardiovascular system with the heart automatically pumping fluid, the lymph system relies on our body movements as a pump. Movement turns on the garbage disposal – without movement that forces the lymphatic fluid to drain, toxins collect stagnantly in the lymph instead of leaving the body. Any type of exercise, such as walking, weight lifting or swimming, helps flush toxins in the lymph. Rebounding is the most effective movement therapy for increasing lymph flow and releasing toxins from the body which gives a full body detox. Also, rebounding is a fun way to lose weight, firm up your body and can help get rid of cellulite. It improves your posture and balance. It helps you tighten and engage your core while working out. And there are many benefits to your cardiovascular, endocrine and immune systems.
